XRP Ledger recently experienced a rare hour-long block production halt before recovering, with no loss of assets or transactions reported. The disruption was caused by a consensus issue related to the Unique Node List (UNL) in the XRPL network, sparking concerns about transaction safety.

The XRP Ledger is now fully operational following the recent disruption, and transactions can resume as normal. The incident raised concerns about transaction safety, but it was clarified that no assets were at risk during the disruption. This comes amidst broader changes in the XRP Ledger ecosystem, following technical challenges over the past year.

The XRP Ledger halted block production for about an hour on Tuesday before spontaneously recovering, marking a rare disruption for one of crypto's oldest networks. The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has since resumed normal operations, with no loss of assets or transactions reported.

David Schwartz, CTO of XRPL, stated that "it looked like consensus was running, but validations were not being published, causing the network to drift apart." The incident also sparked concerns about transaction safety, but it was clarified that no assets were at risk. "It just caused ledgers not to be seen as trusted for about an hour,” Schwartz noted.

The disruption comes amid broader changes in the XRP Ledger ecosystem. Over the past year, the network has faced technical challenges, including a node crash in November 2024 and full history node failures in September of the same year that required emergency patches. XRP was down 8.3% on the day to $2.52, according to CoinGecko data.

The XRP ledger is now fully operational after the recent halt, and transactions can resume as normal. We’re monitoring the situation and will share a full update once more information is available. - Xaman® Wallet 🪝 (@XamanWallet) February 4, 2025
